Our process
The basics. We use a carve-burning and torching technique to achieve a unique style of pyrography akin to the art of tattoo on wood or leather. We can take imagery (photos, drawings, etc.) provided by you and translate them into a personalized piece or come up with a completely new design with your input.
We can refinish your guitar. This involves partially or completely removing the existing finish to add the pyro-engraved design. Fire is a natural part of the life of wood, representing strength and renewal. The BurnMethod hardens the wood, adding a complex tone all its own. A variety of stains and accent colors can be applied before the wood is sealed and waterproofed with a natural finish such as tung oil. We prefer not to use polymers, which compromise the tone of the guitar and prevent the wood from breathing and aging naturally over time.
